Our preliminary task is produce the front page of a new school magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead.
I have started to create the front cover, researching other magazines of different genres as I proceed.
I decided to direct my school magazine at the students. To do this I have to make my choices carefully, as I am targeting students from the ages 11-18 (including the 6th form students).
My first idea was to create a magazine purely for 6th form students but this way I can provide for a larger bracket of students.
Something I really didn't want was the magazine to act like a school newsletter. I want my magazine to appeal to the students, I want them to want to read it. And hopefully not be screwed up into a paper ball or folded into an paper airplane.
To achieve this I have to apply things to my magazine that they would want to read, and attract the to read it. This means using appropriate fonts, pictures and layout.
I have attached my title to this post, I feel it is appropriate for the students magazine and contains the school colour.
Factors like those have to be considered throughout producing this task.
