Sherlock Holmes

A film about the great fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Richie, starring the multi talented actor Robert Downey Jr, cheeky english actor Jude Law, the gorgeous Rachel McAdams, and Mark Strong, and music from Hans Zimmer. Could this be the best film of the year?
Sadly the film is released christmas day, so I will have to wait patiently till I am available, and I am hoping it will help me get over my post-christmas blues.

Preliminary Task

For the contents page for the school magazine, I aim to achieve a simple and effective page that would be easy to read.
I wasn't too imaginative or creative with this page because it was only a starting point.
I tried to continue the colour schemes from the front cover, to keep a continuous theme.
By giving the magazine a neat, simple and maturer look, it gives the school a better image, suggesting the school is mature and classic.
I added quite a few photos, the reason I chose this is because it almost seems like there is a lot to do, many opportunities at Chew Valley School.

Preliminary Task

The preliminary task was to create a magazine that was appropriate as a school magazine, Using our own photos and ideas that had to be original. I wanted to produce a popular, appropriate and realistic looking magazine cover.
I chose the title 'Academy' because it represents school/college, and suits the magazine, and because I incorporated the school colour into it, I think it represents Chew Valley well.
The font I chose is youthful without being childish or innappropriate, and is instantly noticable, I also tried to keep the font colours consistant, to allow the magazine cover to flow together.
I used different sized fonts to catch peoples eye, and to make words stand out.

The main photo I used was originally taken in sepia, I experimented with a colour version but the magazine imediatly looked too busy and caotic. I also toyed with having a black and white photo, but that washed out the page and looked almost vintage. That was not the visual look I wanted to achieve so I settled with the original sepia photo.

Although my target audience are the students of Chew Valley School, I wanted to magazine to be accessable to people outside of school, so I tried to create a magazine that was appropiate to achieve this.

My magazine would be distributed by the school to offer the Students and possibly the teaching staff. It would be released as a monthly magazine, highlighting news, topics and events at the school. It used conventional items and layout that could be convincing in a published magazine.
